The Petrology Group of the Mineralogical Society of Poland has been organizing annual meetings since 1993. The aim of the meetings is the presentation of results of Polish and foreign researchers dealing with the broadly understood petrology. Each of the previous meetings had its own theme, usually related to the petrology of crystalline rocks (igneous or metamorphic). The aim of the Jubilee 25th Session will be to show application of petrological methods and approach in various disciplines of geology and related sciences (eg. sedimentology, soil sciences, geophysics, space research), but also in scientific areas, which are seemingly unrelated to geology (eg archeology, monument conservation, atmospheric pollution, etc.).
Justyna Baron (University of Wrocław, Poland): "Archaeological objects as a subject of multi-faceted analysis. Some examples of archaeological and geological co-operation."
Hilary Downes (Birkbeck, University of London, UK): "Meteorites as witnesses to Solar System Evolution."
Marek Grad (University of Warsaw, Poland): "Podolian, Saxonian and Baltic plates - from Teisseyre-Tornquist Line to TESZ."
Károly Hidas (Instituto Andaluz de Ciencias de la Tierra, CSIC-UGR, Spain): "Reading rocks: microstructure visualization in the service of petrology."
